Telephone switch-on/switch-off characteristics, general
With basic telephony, the mobile phone must be switched on or off manually via the buttons on the mobile phone. For comfort telephony, the mobile phone is automatically switched on by switching on the "audio equipment" by means of a wake-up pulse from the "audio equipment" or switched off by means of a corresponding signal.
The switch On/Off characteristics function consists of the following component functions:
^ Switch on function sequence
^ Switch off function sequence
The system is described using the comfort telephony as an example. Differences from the basic telephony are marked by the symbol.
Switch on function sequence
The switch-on signal from the "audio equipment" is sent via a direct line to the cradle. The mobile phone is then switched on and supplied with power. If set on the mobile phone, the Personal Identification Number (PIN) is requested after the mobile phone has been switched on. The PIN inquiry is displayed by the "audio equipment" via a low voltage differential signal (LVDS) line to the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) as well as via the interior CAN (CAN B) in the instrument cluster (A1).
Depending on the prompt, the 4 to 8-digit PIN must be entered in one of the following ways:
- Telephone buttons on audio equipment
- Buttons on the mobile phone
- Voice control system (VCS) (with code (511) Audio 50 APS incl. DVD changer or code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer)
These control signals are all processed internally.
The control signals from the VCS [SBS] are recorded by the voice control system microphone (B25/7) and forwarded via a direct line to the "audio equipment". The SIM card is then enabled and the mobile phone logs into the mobile telephone network as follows:
- Direct line
- Bluetooth antenna (A2/91)
- Cradle
- Bluetooth module
- Direct line and multifunction antenna (A28/11) (with code (386) Mobile phone, without code (228) Stationary heater)
- Coaxial cable via antenna amplifier/cellular telephone system compensator (A28/3), mobile phone and stationary heater radio remote control antenna splitter (A2/53) and multifunction antenna (with code (228) Stationary heater and code (386) Mobile phone)
- Direct line, frequency switchover control unit (N96) (with code (359) TELE AID emergency call system), direct line and multifunction antenna (with code (389) Mobile phone preinstallation with universal interface USA/Canada)
After registering in the service provider's mobile telephone network, the name of the mobile telephone network is given on the mobile phone screen and on the Audio/COMAND display in vehicles with code (386) Mobile phone. The mobile phone signals or mobile phone data are received in the following way:
- Multifunction antenna
- Direct line
- Cradle
Showing the name of the mobile telephone network on the mobile phone display is processed internally. The mobile telephone network name is shown on the Audio/COMAND display via the following path:
- Bluetooth module
- Bluetooth antenna
- Direct line
- Audio equipment
- LVDS line
For basic telephony, the switch-on signal is processed internally in the mobile phone. The PIN inquiry, if set on the mobile phone, is only displayed on the mobile phone's screen. The PIN is only entered via the buttons on the mobile phone. The log in is sent and confirmed via the mobile phone antenna. The mobile phone network name is also displayed just on the mobile phone's screen. The display of the PIN, of the mobile phone network name and the signals of the buttons on the mobile phone are processed internally in the mobile phone.
Switch off function sequence
The switch-off signal from the "audio equipment" is sent via a direct line to the cradle. The mobile phone is then switched off depending on the cradle and the power supply is interrupted. Expiration of the run-on time configured in the mobile phone takes place internally in the mobile phone.
For basic telephony, the switch-off signal is processed internally in the mobile phone. If the rechargeable battery of the mobile phone is empty, the mobile phone is also switched off.
By switching off the mobile phone and then subsequently removing the SIM card, the mobile phone is taken out of operation. The SIM card may only be removed after the mobile phone has been deactivated in order to prevent permanent damage to the memory chip provided on the SIM card.
