- Switch-on request and control data from the radio to the Audio/ COMAND display via telematics CAN
Design
The navigation 20 control unit comprises the following components:
- Navigation module with FM receiver, GPS receiver, navigation processor including map data, audio amplifier
- Bluetooth(R) module (generation 1)
- Interfaces for external audio sources
- Graphics chip for generating interfaces and map displays
The navigation 20 control unit can be flashed via the USB interface of the navigation 20 electrical connector and can be diagnosed as of generation 2.
Variants
The function scope depends on the generation (device generation) and the version (software version).
In vehicles with code (518) Media interface as of 1.3.2011, the navigation 20 electrical connector is not used as a media source for connecting external devices.
The generation and the version can be read out in the service mode on the Audio/COMAND display. Service mode is activated when the "Back" button (A40/9s2), the "Delete" button (A40/9s12) and the Audio/COMAND controller (A40/9s11) are pressed simultaneously for approx. 3 s while the "iPod" menu is active.
