Synchronization, general

High torque transfer and frequent shift work with shift force reduced simultaneously require powerful synchronization during the shift.

The multiple cone synchronizations of 1st to 4th gear meet these requirements and offer the following advantages during the shifting:
^ Fast synchronization
^ High ease of shifting
^ Low shift forces

Triple cone synchronization of 1st and 2nd gear

1 1st gear idler gear
2 2nd gear idler gear
10 Main shaft
51 Cone ring
52 Friction ring
53 Friction lining
54 Synchronizer ring
55 Sliding sleeve
56 Synchronizer body
57 Needle roller bearing

A triple cone synchronization is used for the synchronization of 1st and 2nd gear An additional cone ring (51) between the friction ring (52) and synchronizer ring (54) and a friction lining (53) on the friction ring (52) are the key components. The three friction surfaces of the cone and friction rings are added up and they cause the idler gears (1 or 2) to be braked or accelerated faster with less force.

Double cone synchronization of 3rd or 4th gear

3 3rd gear idler gear
4 4th gear idler gear
12 Countershaft
60 Cone ring
61 Friction ring
62 Synchronizer ring
63 Sliding sleeve
64 Synchronizer body
65 Needle roller bearing

A double cone synchronization is used for synchronization of 3rd and 4th gear.

Compared with the triple ball synchronization the friction lining on the friction ring (61) has been dispensed with.

A single cone synchronization is used for the synchronization of 5th and 6th gear.

Compared with the double cone synchronization the cone ring (60) and the friction ring (61) has been dispensed with.
