GF82.30-P-3008CE Wiper Start Suppression Function
GF82.30-P-3008CE Wiper Start Suppression Function
General function requirements
^ C. 15R On
The status of circuit 15R is transmitted by the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) via the interior CAN (CAN B) to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
Wiper start suppression, general
The wiper startup suppression is intended to prevent the driver or front passenger from being sprayed with water from the windshield when getting in or out as the result of an initiated wipe operation
The windshield wiper remains in the park position in spite of the wiping request by the intermittent or rain sensor operation (with code (345) Rain sensor).
The wiper start suppression function consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Function sequence for activating wiper start suppression
^ Function sequence for deactivating wiper start suppression
Additional function requirements for activating wiper start suppression
^ Vehicle speed v < 3 km/h
^ Combination switch (S4) in position "1" or "2"
^ Rain/light sensor (B38/2) (with code (345) Rain sensor) has detected a wet windshield
Function sequence for activating wiper start suppression
If a door is opened while wiping, the front SAM control unit interrupts the actuation of the wiper motor (M6/1) via the wiper/ inside rearview mirror LIN (LIN 2).
The instrument cluster (A1) transmits the vehicle speed information to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN.
The steering column tube module control unit (N80) directly reads in the position of the combination switch and transmits it to the front SAM control unit via the chassis CAN (CAN E).
Opening the left front door is recognized by the status of the left front door rotary tumbler switch (A85s1) which is read in by the left front door control unit (N69/1).
Opening the right front door is recognized by the status of the right front door rotary tumbler switch (A85/1s1) which is read in by the right front door control unit (N69/2).
The rain/light sensor data is read by the front SAM control unit via the wiper/inside rearview mirror LIN.
On model 204.0/2 with code (414) Glass electric tilting/sliding roof, this data is routed through the overhead control panel control unit (N70).
The front SAM control unit reads in all relevant information, evaluates it and interrupts actuation of the wiper motor. An already started wiping procedure is not interrupted immediately. The wiper continues to move to the park position.
Function sequence for deactivating wiper start suppression
Re-actuation of the wiper motor takes place once the wiper startup suppression has been activated by one of the following events:
- Vehicle speed V ≥ 3 km/h
- Combination switch in position "3" or "4"
- Touch wiping or wash function activated
- Driver and passenger door closed
- Selector lever in position "D" or "R" (on transmission 722)
- Clutch operated (on transmission 711, 716)
- Change from circuit 15C to circuit 15R
If no valid selector lever positions are available with circuit 15R, "N" will be transmitted constantly. The selector lever position is only available as of circuit 15 On. Wiper startup suppression is not canceled by the selector lever position with circuit 15R.
The steering column tube module control unit directly reads in the position of the combination switch and transmits it to the front SAM control unit via the chassis CAN.
The electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) provides the status for the selector lever position fro the drive CAN (CAN C).
The CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine ) or ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) relays it to the front SAM control unit via the chassis CAN.
The "Clutch actuated" status is sensed by the clutch pedal switch (S40/3). The CDI control unit or ME-SFI control unit reads in the status of the clutch pedal switch and transmits it to the front SAM control unit via the drive CAN.
