Location
55/2a Fuel filter
55/2B Fuel pressure regulator
The fuel filter with fuel pressure regulator is inserted into the left fuel tank chamber from above.
Task
The fuel filter filters out the impurities from the fuel and prevents contamination in the fuel injection system.
The fuel pressure regulator limits the fuel pressure to approx. 3.8 bar.
Fuel filter, function
The fuel filter element is integrated in a plastic housing. The fuel flows through it from the outside to the inside. As a result any impurities are trapped.
A check valve is located at the feed point to the fuel filter which prevents reduction of the fuel pressure when the fuel pump (M3) is switched off.
Fuel pressure regulator, function
The fuel pressure regulator limits the fuel pressure to 3.8 bar via the fuel return flow amount.
If the set fuel pressure is exceeded, the diaphragm in the fuel pressure regulator is pushed against the push spring and the valve attached to the diaphragm opens the passage for fuel return in to the fuel tank.
If the set pressure is below the limit, the valve is closed again by means of the push spring.
