The minimum oil level in the oil pan is monitored by an oil level check switch (S43) integrated in the oil pan.
If the oil level is sufficient, the contact in the switch to the engine ground is closed. If the minimum oil level is not reached, the switch opens. This ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) and transmits a corresponding signal via the chassis CAN (CAN E) to the instrument cluster (A1).
