N2/13 WSS (Weight Sensing System) control unit

Location
The WSS control unit is located beneath the seat cushion at the front passenger seat cushion frame.

Task
The WSS control unit has the following tasks:

Evaluation of input factors
The WSS control unit determines the weight (person or child seat) on the front passenger seat. This is determined via a pressure measurement in a gel mat filled with silicone. A pressure sensor is integrated into the WSS control unit. The tractive force at the belt is transmitted via the belt tension sensor to the WSS control unit.
The WSS control unit uses the pressure and the belt tension to calculate the corresponding weight class and transmits it via seat occupation LIN (LIN E2) to the supplemental restraint system control unit (N2/10).
