Component Identification:

Location
The floor shift is located in the center console of the vehicle.

Task
The center shifter console is the central control for changing the transmission mode, gear range and gear of the transmission.

Function
The selector lever is moved and positioned in the shift gate, which is not visible to the driver. All selector lever positions are detected by the electronic selector lever module control unit, coded and transmitted to the electronic transmission-control control unit (N15/3) via the drive train CAN. (CAN-C)
Parallel to being transmitted via the drive train CAN, the selector lever positions "P", "R", "N" and "D" are also transmitted mechanically to the transmission-side range selector lever by means of a shift rod. Shift ranges "1", "2", "3", "4" and "5", up to those which the electronic transmission control permits an upshift of the transmission, it is possible to shift into selector lever position "D" via a lateral movement of the selector lever (touch shift).
