Function sequence for convenience feature via transmitter key
When actuating and holding down the "Lock" or "Unlock"button on the transmitter key, it transmits an infrared signal to the infrared remote control receiver in the front door on the driver side (precise aiming required).
The left rear door control unit reads in this signal and transmits it via the interior CAN to the electronic ignition lock control unit.
The electronic ignition lock control unit checks the access authorization of the transmitter key and enables the required function.
The left front door control unit transmits the request "Comfort opening" or "Comfort closing" to the following control units via the interior CAN after enabling:
- Right front door control unit
- Left rear door control unit (on model 204.0/2/9)
- Right rear door control unit (on model 204.0/2/9)
- Overhead control panel control unit (on model 204.0/2 with code (414) Electric glass tilting/sliding roof)
- Panoramic sliding sunroof control unit in panoramic sliding sunroof control module (with code (413) Panoramic glass sunroof with top sliding sunroof)
Then the control units actuate the following components, to open or close the side windows.
- Left front door power window motor, actuated by left front door control unit
- Right front door power window motor, actuated by right front door control unit
- Left rear door power window motor (on model 204.0/2/9), actuated by left rear door control unit
- Right rear door power window motor (on model 204.0/2/9), actuated by right rear door control unit
On model 204.0/2 with code (414) Electric glass tilting/sliding roof, the overhead control panel control unit actuates the tilting/sliding roof motor in the tilting/sliding roof control unit, to open or close the tilting/sliding roof according to the request.
On vehicles with code (413) Panoramic glass sunroof with top sliding roof, the panoramic sliding roof control unit actuates the panoramic sliding sunroof roller sun blind motor in the panoramic sliding roof roller sun blind drive unit and then the panoramic sliding roof motor to open or close the roller sun blinds and the panoramic sliding roof according to the request.
Where applicable, the sun blinds are opened before opening the panoramic sliding sunroof.
The panoramic sliding roof is opened only upon a new request.
During comfort closing, the roller sun blinds are closed only after the panoramic sliding roof is closed and after a new request.

Additional function sequence for convenience feature via air recirculation function (without code (494) USA version)
^ Circuit 15 ON
The electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the status of terminal 15 to the automatic air conditioning control and operating unit via the interior CAN.

Function sequence for convenience feature via air recirculation function (without code (494) USA version)
When the air recirculation button on the automatic air conditioning operation and control unit is pressed for longer than t = 2 s, the convenience feature is started.
When the air recirculation mode is switched on, the comfort closing function is activated and when switched off, the comfort opening function is activated.
The automatic air conditioning control and operating unit reads in the status of the air recirculation mode button and sends it to the following control units via the interior CAN:
- Left front door control unit
- Right front door control unit
- Left rear door control unit (on model 204.0/2/9)
- Right rear door control unit (on model 204.0/2/9)
- Overhead control panel control unit or panoramic sliding roof control unit
Then the control units actuate the following components, to open or close the side windows.
- Left front door power window motor, actuated by left front door control unit
- Right front door power window motor, actuated by right front door control unit
- Left rear door power window motor(on model 204.0/2/9) actuated by left rear door control unit
- Right rear door power window motor (on model 204.0/2/9) actuated by right rear door control unit
On model 204.0/2 with code (414) Electric glass tilting/sliding roof the overhead control panel control unit actuates the tilting/sliding roof motor to open or close the tilting/sliding roof according to the request.
On vehicles with code (413) Panoramic glass sunroof with top sliding sunroof, the panoramic sliding roof control module actuates the panoramic sliding sunroof motor and the panoramic sliding sunroof motor to close or open the panoramic sliding roof and the roller sun blind according to the request.
Where applicable, the sun blinds are opened before opening the panoramic sliding sunroof.
The panoramic sliding roof is opened only upon a new request.
During comfort closing, the roller sun blinds are closed only after the panoramic sliding roof is closed and after a new request.
During comfort closing with the air recirculation function, the current positions of the side windows, tilting/sliding roof or panoramic roof are stored. During the next comfort opening procedure, these are all moved back to the positions stored previously. The comfort opening function is performed only when comfort closing was accomplished previously.
Detailed information on position sensing for power window is given in the separate function description "Power windows (PW), function".
Information on position sensing of sliding roof (with code (414) Electric glass tilting/sliding roof) is given in the separate function description "Electric tilting/sliding roof (SR) function" in detail.
