Interior CAN
The signals are read in by the rear SAM control unit over the interior CAN.
The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.
Control of systems
The rear SAM control unit controls the following systems:
- Rear exterior lights (ABL)
- Trunk illumination
- Rear window defroster
- Antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW]) (with code (551) Antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW]))
- Rear roller blind (with code (540) Electric rear window roller blind)
- Rear seat head restraints
- Central locking (ZV) of tank cap and trunk lid with integrated power closing
Component actuation
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Rear SAM LIN (LIN B4)
Direct line
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Left taillights (E3)
- Right taillights (E4)
- Right luggage compartment lamp (E18/4)
- Left luggage compartment lamp (E18/5)
- Left license plate lamp (E19/1)
- Right license plate lamp (E19/2)
- Center high-mounted stop lamp (E21)
- Left trunk lid ambient and warning lamp (E40/2)
- Right trunk lid ambient and warning lamp (E40/3)
- Trunk lid central locking motor (M14/7)
- Fuel filler flap CL [ZV] motor (M14/10)
- Rear roller blind motor (with code (540) Electric rear window roller blind)
- Lumbar pump (M25/1) (without code (409) Left/right front multicontour seats and without code (432) Left and right dynamic multicontour seat)
- Pneumatic pump for dynamic seat control (M40/1) (with code (432) Left and right dynamic multicontour seat)
- Rear head restraints valve block (Y24/11)
Rear SAM LIN
The following components are actuated through the rear SAM LIN:
- ATA [EDW] inclination sensor (B27) (with code (551) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]))
- Alarm signal siren (H3/1) (with code (551) Antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW]))
Voltage supply to components
Limit switches supply power to various components and control units to match the function sequence.
Requests are notified to the rear SAM control unit over either the interior CAN or directly scanned switches, transmitters and sensors. Fuses are used to protect the components and control units that have voltage applied to them against overloading. Detailed information is available in the fuse and relay box, as-built configuration specification.
Switching consumers using relays
The rear SAM control unit acts as a support for the following relays over which various consumers are actuated:
- Terminal 15 relay (N10/2kM)
- Terminal 15R relay (N10/2kN)
- Power outlet relay (N10/2kO)
- Heated rear window relay (N10/2kP)
- Circulation pump relay (N10/2kQ) (with engine 275) or
- Power electronics circulation pump 1 relay (K108) (with model 221.095/195)
- Cigar lighter relay (N10/2kR)
- Fuel pump relay (N10/2kS) (except model 221.095/195) or
- Power electronics circulation pump 2 relay (K108/1) (with model 221.095/195)
The circulation pump relay (with engine 275), power electronics circulation pump 1 relay (with model 221.095/195), power electronics circulation pump 2 relay (with model 221.095/195) and the fuel pump relay (except model 221.095/195) are indeed located on the rear SAM control unit, but are not actuated by it.
The circulation pump relay (with engine 275) or power electronics circulation pump 1 relay (with model 221.095/195) is actuated by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). The power electronics circulation pump 2 relay (with model 221.095/195) is powered by the front SAM control unit through the circuit 87 connector sleeve (Z7/5), and the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) is responsible for its actuation.
The fuel pump relay is powered by the front SAM control unit through the circuit 15 connector sleeve (Z3), and the CDI control unit (N3/9) is responsible for its actuation.
