GF54.65-P-4001Q Reversing, Function
- with CODE (220) Parktronic system (PTS)

Component Identification:

Function requirements
^ Circuit 15 ON
^ Parking brake not operated
^ Vehicle speed ≤16 km/h
^ Reverse gear engaged (on transmission 716)
^ Selector lever in position "R" or "N" (on transmission 722)
^ No trailer operation (with code (550) trailer hitch)

Function
When reversing area C and D behind the vehicle and area A and B in front of the vehicle is monitored as well.
The front bumper PTS sensor unit (A42) detects obstacles:
^ in area A (15 cm to 60 cm)
^ in area B (20 cm to 100 cm)

The rear bumper PTS sensor unit (A43) detects obstacles:
^ in area C (20 cm to 120 cm)
^ in area D (20 cm to 80 cm)

Reversing is detected on transmission 716:
^ via the backup lamp switch and front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module

on transmission 722:
^ via the selector lever position and electronic selector lever module control unit

Warning information
The Parktronic control unit actuates the center instrument panel PTS warning indicator (A44/4) or the rear PTS warning indicator (A44/3).
Depending on the distance to the obstacle, visual and, if necessary, acoustic warning information is given out.

The acoustic warning signals have different frequencies so that the driver can decide quickly if the obstacle is in front of or behind the vehicle.
The warning signal for the center instrument panel PTS warning indicator (A44/4) has a higher frequency.

The rear PTS warning indicator (A44/3) is deactivated when reversing with trailer (with code (550) trailer hitch). The area in front of the vehicle continues to be monitored.
The trailer is detected via the trailer hitch socket (13-pin) and trailer recognition control unit.

Deactivation
The Parktronic system (PTS) can be switched off and on manually via the PTS OFF switch in the upper control panel control unit, feedback takes place via an LED in the PTS OFF switch.
