GF82.60-P-2002QMV CD-Player Mode, Function
- with CODE (530) COMAND APS USA (with navigation system)
CD mode with the integrated digital versatile disk (DVD) drive
The COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) is equipped with an integrated DVD drive for loading navigation data and for playing audio CDs.
CD changer mode (with code (819) 6-disk CD changer)
The CD player with changer (in the glove compartment) (A2/6) is controlled by the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). The control signals and the audio data from the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) are transmitted by th Media Oriented System Transport (MOST).
Only audio CDs with the corresponding data format can be used in the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6).
The sound amplifier (A2/13) carries out the final amplification of the audio signals and forwards the amplified audio signals to the speaker system of the vehicle so that they can be output. The signals between the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) and the sound amplifier (A2/13) are transmitted via the MOST. The COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) provides, in conjunction with the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6), the following functions:
^ "Scan" function
Either the tracks of a CD are played or the 1st track of the CDs of the entire magazine is played for t = 8 s. After running through the CD completely, the "Scan" function is automatically terminated.
^ "Random" function
All the titles on a CD or the entire CD magazine are played in accordance with the random principle.
^ "Repeat" function
Alternatively a title, a CD or the entire CD magazine is repeated.
^ Fast forward or reverse (music search)
The music played is audible during fast forward or reverse. Certain parts of a title can therefore be specifically played or skipped.
CD title allocation, function
Each CD contains a permanently stored so-called table of contents (TOC record). The COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) clearly recognizes, based on this table of contents, the particular CD and is able to automatically name it after the onetime user allocation of the title, even if the CD is subsequently inserted into another slot. The table of contents (TOC record) also contains information on the number of titles on a CD and the total CD playing time.
Playback of an audio CD in MP3 format
The designation "MP3" is an acronym for MPEG 1 Audio Layer 3 and describes an audio compression standard, which permits the compression of digital music signals to approx. 8 % of the original data size. This is done with almost no audible difference to the original signal (audio CD). It is also possible to play back audio CDs in MP3 format in addition to conventional audio CDs in the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6). While doing so, a conventional audio CD is emulated (simulated).
