DANGER!
Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.
- Wear protective gloves, acid-resistant clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

1 Disconnect ground cable of battery
2 Remove cover below instrument panel (right)
3 Remove side cover (3)
- See Special Tools below
4 Unclip glove compartment socket

NOTE: Press socket circlip (5) to the inside.

5.1 Remove CD changer
- With code (819a) CD changer
6 Unscrew screws (1)
7 Guide glove compartment (2) laterally out of the instrument panel bottom section on passenger side (4)

NOTE:
Installation: First of all insert into the guide rail.

8 Detach coupling at glove compartment illumination with switch (E13/2)
9.1 Disconnect coupling from glove compartment CL element
10 Install in reverse order
11 Perform basic programming
12 Read diagnostic trouble code memory and erase
13 Check for proper function
