AR47.10-P-4001P Draining and Filling Fuel Tank

Remove

1.1 Take off top engine trim panels
1.2 Remove engine trim panel with integrated air cleaner.

NOTE: Detach engine cover or air cleaner by lifting vertically up and off the cylinder head covers.

2 Remove rear seat cushion
- With code (287a) through-loading feature

NOTE: Fold rear seat cushion only forward.

Draining

DANGER:
- Risk of explosion from fuel igniting, risk of poisoning from inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin from contact with fuel.
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.
- Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
- Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.


3 Connect extraction hose (1) to extraction pump (2) on the suction side

CAUTION: Ground extraction pump (2), in order to prevent arcing.

- See Commercially Available Tools below.

DANGER:

4 Pump out fuel into a safety tank (3)
- If fuel pump is intact.

CAUTION: Except engine 271.942, because the high pressure pump could be damaged on this engine. Proceed as if fuel pump would be defective.

- If fuel pump is defective.

Install
5 Install rear seat cushion
- With code (287a) through-loading feature

NOTE: Fold rear seat cushion only back.

6.1 Install top engine trim panels
6.2 Install engine trim panel with integrated air cleaner

NOTE: Position engine cover first at hot film cleaner mass air flow sensor, and then press down on cylinder head covers.

Filling
7 Fill fuel tank through tank filler opening
- Fuel tank capacity, Total capacity = 62 Liters
Reserve capacity = 8 Liters

8 Inspect fuel system for leaks
