Component Identification:
The iPod interface wiring harness (3) is routed from the left side of the luggage compartment to the right front footwell.
1 Unpin brown/red line from the blue connector (28) of the iPod interface wiring harness (3).
Blue connector (28) is still required.
Component Identification:
2 Disconnect connector housing (6) from the audio gateway control unit (N93/1).
3 Remove connector (7) from connector housing (6).
4 Unpin brown line (br) from connector (7) of the on-board wiring harness and pin brown line (br) of the iPod interface wiring harness (3) into the same contact cavity of connector (7).
5 Unpin brown/red line from connector (7) of the on-board wiring harness and pin brown/red line (br/rt) of the iPod interface wiring harness (3) into the same contact cavity of connector (7).
6 Install connector (7) into connector housing (6).
7 Pin brown (br) and brown/red (br/rt) line of the on-board vehicle wiring harness into any contact cavities of the blue connector (28) and strap down onto existing wiring harness.
Pin brown (br) and brown/red (br/rt) line of the on-board wiring harness into the blue connector in order to avoid a short circuit.
8 Connect connector housing (6) to the audio gateway control unit (N93/1).
The blue supplied connector housing is not connected but strapped down onto the wiring harness.
9 Insert connector (27) of the iPod interface wiring harness (3) into contact cavity 27 of the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
Socket 27 is mechanically coded for connector (27) of the iPod interface wiring harness (3).
10 Attach ground connection (9) of the iPod interface wiring harness (3) to ground (left wheelhouse in luggage compartment) (W6).
11 Connect relay (24) contained in parts kit to socket C of the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
12 Connect 7.5 A fuse (25) contained in parts kit to socket 5 of the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
13 Route iPod interface wiring harness (3) according to the picture from the luggage compartment into the interior compartment and attach using felt strip.
14 Route iPod interface wiring harness (3) in the interior according to the picture on the right wheelhouse to the cable duct and connect to on-board wiring harnesses.
15 Route iPod interface wiring harness (3) in the cable duct toward the front into the right footwell.
16 Route iPod interface wiring harness (3) according to the picture in the footwell and connect to the existing wiring harness.
17 Open cockpit voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/6).
18 Connect the CAN connector (21) of the iPod interface wiring harness (3) to an available socket of the cockpit voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/6).
Connect the CAN connector (21) to any available socket.
19 Close the cockpit voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/6).
20 Route the branch-off line of the iPod interface wiring harness (3) according to the picture into the radio recess (see arrow).
The iPod interface wiring harness connector (19) will be connected to the iPod interface at a later in time.
21 Disconnect connector of on-board AUX cable from the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) and strap down wiring harness.
The on-board AUX cable no longer can be used in combination with the iPod.
22 Connect connector (20) of the branch-off line to the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3).
