Location
The audio gateway control unit (N93/1) is installed behind the C-pillar in the left of the luggage compartment.

Task
The audio gateway control unit (N93/1) is only installed in combination with the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) and the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). It represents the radio component and simultaneously the interface between the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) and the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B). The audio gateway control unit (N93/1) is offered in a base version and with code (810) Sound System in a sound version.

Function
The audio gateway control unit (N93/1) receives radio signals in the FM and AM range and is used as a central diagnostic interface for all components on the MOST ring. It can be awakened via a separate wake-up line and via the CAN-B. This wake-up line is also used for diagnosis. The acoustic driving instructions while navigation is operated are forwarded by the navigation processor (N41/1) to the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) and output via the vehicle speakers.
