GF82.20-P-0002TX Interior Lights (IBL), Function

Component Identification:

Function
The interior lights (IBL) system illuminates the vehicle interior depending on various factors (e.g. open door). The master control unit for this system is in the overhead control panel. Lights can also be switched on and off manually.

Operating facilities

^ Manual operation using operating switch
- Ceiling lamp
- reading lamp

^ When a door is opened the
- ceiling lamp,
- the entry and exit lamps,
- the warning lamps in the doors and
- the footwell illumination are switched on.

^ When the standing lamps (circuit 58d) are switched on, the
- door inside handle illumination,
- the ambiance illumination and
- search and function illumination are switched on.

^ When the central locking system (CL) is unlocked, the
- ceiling lamp is switched on (dimmed). Switching off takes place 30 seconds after unlocking.

^ When the transmitter key (A8/1) is removed, the
- ceiling lamp is switched on (dimmed). Switching off takes place automatically after the run-on time set on the instrument cluster. The run-on time can be set to 0, 5, 10, 15 or 20 seconds.

^ If the anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]) is triggered with code (551) anti-theft alarm system (ATA) or if a panic alarm is triggered with code (763) radio remote control with panic switch, the
- ceiling lamp is switched on (undimmed).

^ Operation via contact switch
- vanity mirror illumination
- glove compartment illumination
- trunk illumination

Illumination

Entry and exit illumination
When one of the doors is opened, the overhead control panel transmits an appropriate switch-on request to the relevant door control unit via CAN-B, which switches on the relevant entry/exit lamp (undimmed).

Door inside handle illumination
If the standing lamps are switched on, the door inside handle illumination is switched on by the relevant door control unit (undimmed).

Footwell lighting
When one of the doors is opened, the overhead control panel transmits an appropriate switch-on request to the driver-side SAM control unit via CAN-B, which switches on the relevant footwell lamp.

Warning lights in the doors
When one of the doors is opened, the overhead control panel transmits an appropriate switch-on request to the relevant door control unit via CAN-B, which switches on the relevant warning lamp (undimmed).

Ambiance illumination
^ The ambiance illumination includes actuation of:
^ the light ring (N70e4) in the overhead control panel,
^ the light ring (E15/3e4) in the rear interior lamp and
^ the ambient lamp (A67e3) in the inside rearview mirror unit which are switched on when the ambiance illumination is switched on at the instrument cluster.

Search and function illumination
When the standing lamps are switched on, the brightness of all illuminated controls is automatically adapted to the brightness conditions in the interior by a phototransistor that is integrated in the instrument cluster. The brightness can be adjusted to individual requirements using the instrument illumination rheostat and reset button (A1r1) on the instrument cluster.

Ceiling illumination
The ceiling illumination includes manual and automatic activation of the front dome lamp (N70e1) in the overhead control panel and the dome lamp in the rear interior lamp.

Front reading illumination
Operating the left front reading lamp switch (N70s6) switches on the left reading lamp (A67e1) and operating the right front reading lamp switch (N70s7) switches on the right reading lamp (A67e2) in the inside rearview mirror unit (both undimmed).

Rear reading illumination
Operating the left reading lamp switch (E15/3s1) switches on the left reading lamp (E15/3e1) and operating the right reading lamp switch (E15/3s2) switches on the right reading lamp (E15/3e2) in the rear interior lamp.

Glove compartment illumination
The glove compartment illumination with switch comes on when circuit 15R is switched on by opening the glove compartment. Switching off takes place by closing the glove compartment or after 15 minutes of bus inactivity.

Vanity mirror illumination
If the bus system is active and the vanity mirror cover is opened with the sun visor folded down, the left front vanity mirror illumination switch or the right front vanity mirror illumination switch is automatically operated and the left front vanity mirror illumination or the right front vanity mirror illumination is switched on. Switching off takes place by closing the relevant vanity mirror cover or automatically after 30 minutes of bus inactivity.

Trunk illumination
When the trunk is opened, the pawl rotary tumbler switch is operated, which is discretely read in by the rear SAM control unit. The rear SAM control unit then switches on the trunk illumination and the trunk lid ambient lamp (undimmed).
The undimmed lamp is switched off by closing the trunk or after 30 minutes.
