GF82.10-P-3004TY High-Beam Actuation, Function
- with CODE (615) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated cornering lamps
Component Identification:
High beam
Function requirements
^ Circuit 61 ON or
^ Engine speed > 300 rpm for t > 2 s
^ Exterior lamp switch in "Low beam" position
Function
Switch the headlamp flasher/high beam switch to "High beam" position. The steering column module detects the "High beam" switch position and over CAN-B sends the signal to the driver-side SAM control unit:
This forwards the request to the front passenger-side SAM control unit and the instrument cluster.
The driver-side SAM control unit actuates the left high beam and the left high beam solenoid in the left front lamp unit (E1). The front passenger-side SAM control unit actuates the right high beam and the right high beam solenoid in the right front lamp unit (E2). Due to the actuation of the left and right high beam solenoids, the covers, which mask off the corresponding lower part of the light beam for low beam, are moved away downward. This enables the entire beam to be provided for the high beam.
The instrument cluster actuates the blue high beam indicator lamp.
Headlamp flasher
Function requirements
^ Circuit 15R ON
Function
Pull headlamp flasher/high beam switch to "Headlamp flasher" position.
The data flow is the same as for the high beam function.
The headlamp flasher and thus the high beam remain active for as long as the headlamp flasher/high beam switch is held in the "Headlamp flasher" position.
If the low beam is off, it is not switched on, i.e. only the halogen light is available.
The left and right high beam solenoids are however actuated.
