GF82.10-P-3008TM Turn Signal Indicator Actuation, Function
GF82.10-P-3008TM Turn Signal Indicator Actuation, Function
Component Identification:
Turn signal indicator lamps function
Function requirements
^ Circuit 5R On
Function
The steering column module detects the respective position of the combination switch and sends the request over CAN-B to the rear SAM control unit.
The rear SAM control unit is the master control unit for all turn signal functions and forwards the request over CAN-B to the corresponding control units.
Left turn signal
The driver-side SAM control unit actuates the left turn signal lamp. The left front door control unit actuates the left outside mirror turn signal lamp.
The rear SAM control unit actuates the outer left turn signal lamp and, with model 211.0, it additionally the inner left turn signal lamp.
Right turn signal
The front passenger-side SAM control unit actuates the right turn signal lamp.
The right front door control unit actuates the right outside mirror turn signal lamp.
The rear SAM control unit actuates the outer right turn signal lamp and, with model 211.0, additionally the inner right turn signal lamp.
Feedback
The information "left turn signal active" or "right turn signal active" is sent by the rear SAM control unit over CAN-B to the instrument cluster, which then actuates the relevant indicator lamp and additionally the acoustic turn signal indicator.
If a turn signal lamp or a flasher light fails, only the flashing frequency of the indicator lamp in question doubles.
End flashing action
The turn signaling is automatically terminated by resetting when countersteering or by manual reset of the combination switch.
Touch flash function
The operational sequence for the turn signal lamp touch control is the same, in relation to the signal flow, as that for the turn signal indicator. The difference lies in the triggering and termination of the turn signal procedure.
For one-touch turn signaling the combination switch may be moved to the desired turn signal direction only briefly (approx. 0.5 s). If the combination switch does not engage into place in the turn signal indicator position, a sequence of three turn-signal cycles is triggered.
One-touch turn signaling is interrupted by activating the hazard warning lamp function or by operating the combination switch in the opposite direction.
Vehicles with code (550) Trailer hitch
The "left turn signal" or "right turn signal" is transmitted by the rear SAM control unit to the trailer connection unit [AAG] control unit, which then sends the "left turn signal" or "right turn signal" to the AHV socket.
Hazard warning flasher, function
Conditions of operation
^ Circuit 30
Function
The upper control panel control unit detects the position of the hazard warning system switch and transmits the "hazard warning flasher" signal over CAN-B to the rear SAM control unit.
The rear SAM control unit forwards the request to the corresponding control units.
^ The rear SAM control unit actuates the following components:
- Outer left turn signal lamp
- Inner left turn signal lamp (with model 211.0)
- Outer right turn signal lamp
- Inner right turn signal lamp (with model 211.0)
^ The driver-side SAM control unit actuates the left turn signal lamp.
^ The front passenger-side SAM control unit actuates the right turn signal lamp.
^ The left front door control unit actuates the left outside mirror turn signal lamp.
^ The right front door control unit actuates the right outside mirror turn signal lamp.
^ The instrument cluster actuates the indicator lamps as well as the acoustic turn signal indicator.
The active hazard warning function is displayed by the indicator lamp in the hazard warning system switch.
Vehicles with code (550) Trailer hitch
The request is monitored by the trailer connection unit [AAG] control unit over CAN-B and sent correspondingly to the AHV socket.
Hazard warning flashing in event of crash
In the event of a crash (acceleration > 4 g), the request is sent by the restraint systems control unit over CAN-B to the rear SAM control unit. This activates the hazard warning flasher function. The hazard warning flasher function is switched off upon actuation of the hazard warning system switch.
