Location
The Bluetooth antenna is located in the stowage tray in the center console.

Depending on the equipment installed one of the following control units will be installed, hereafter referred to as the "audio unit":
- Radio (A2), with code 523 MB Audio 20 radio or code 510 Audio 20 with CD changer
- Radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56), with code 525 MB Audio 50 APS radio or code 511 Audio 50 APS with DVD changer
- COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3), with code 528 COMAND with DVD changer, code 527 COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation system) or code 512 COMAND APS with DVD changer

Receiving signals
- Receiving mobile radio signals and data via the air interface of the Bluetooth module (comfort telephony), with code 386 Preinstallation for telephone "cell phone", UPCI [UHI] system.
- Receiving mobile radio signals and data via the air interface and the mobile phone antenna of the Bluetooth interface integrated in the mobile phone (basic telephony).
- Receiving mobile radio signals and data via discrete line from "Audio unit"

To be able to operate a Bluetooth-compatible mobile phone that is authorized on the "audio unit" in the vehicle in vehicles without code 386 Preinstallation for telephone "cell phone", UPCI [UHI] system, the mobile phone must support Hands Free Profile (HFP) 1.0 or 1.5. On vehicles with code 498 Japan version, a Bluetooth- compatible mobile phone can only be operated if no mobile phone is connected to the cell phone separation point (X39/37) and the mobile phone adapter cable. Here too, the mobile phone must be authorized at the "audio equipment" and must support HFP 1.0 or 1.5. More information is available under:

Converting signals
The Bluetooth antenna converts the mobile phone signals and data to electrical signals and vice versa.

Transmitting signals
- Transmitting mobile radio signals and data via the air interface to the Bluetooth module (comfort telephony), with code 386 Preinstallation for telephone "cell phone", UPCI [UHI] system.
- Transmitting mobile radio signals and data via the air interface and the mobile phone antenna to the Bluetooth interface integrated in the mobile phone (basic telephony).
- Transmitting mobile telephone signals and data via discrete line to the "Audio unit"
