1 Check condition of battery

Remove
2 Remove battery
- Only if the battery is to be removed for charging.
3.1 Connect battery charger

Battery installed

NOTE:
- Connect positive terminal of battery charger to positive terminal of battery.
- Only connect the negative terminal of the battery charger to the body ground (2) (not to the negative terminal of the battery) so that the battery control module detects the charging of the battery.

CAUTION: Do not mix up connections. Risk of short circuit

3.2 Connect battery charger

NOTE: Use battery charging room

4 Charge battery

Normal charging:
Charging current max.10% of battery capacity, e.g.max.10 A charging current for a 100 Ah battery.

Quick charging:
Charging current max.50% of battery capacity for 30 minutes: e.g.max.50 A charging current for a 100 Ah battery.

5 Disconnect battery charger

NOTE: It is essential to switch off charger first of all!

6 Check battery

NOTE: Determine findings, if necessary Install new battery.


Install
7 Install battery
- Only if the battery was removed for charging

NOTE: Connect positive terminal first.

8 After the charging process, carry out normalization of power windows, sliding roof and steering angle sensor.
9 Teach in battery control module

NOTE:
1 If the error message "Consumer shutoff" appears in the instrument cluster (IC).
2 Do not install new battery control module, for exception refer to Error message in instrument cluster (IC) "Battery: visit workshop".
