The telephone book (menu item "TEL") of the portable CTEL is selected by pressing the system selection button (S110s3) via the selection menu of the multifunction display (A1p13) in the instrument cluster (A1). The name of the person to be called is selected by scrolling forward and back in the telephone book (menu item "TEL") of the portable CTEL using the scroll forward/ back (S110s1)button. The call is activated using the accept/ terminate phone call button (S111s3).
Via voice control, with code (813) Voice control system (VCS [SBS]) or with code (396) Linguatronic - English (US)
If the VCS on button (S111s4) is pressed, the call can be set up by voice command using the voice control system (VCS). Once the VCS [SBS] has been activated, a beep is emitted to indicate that a voice command is required.
The following voice commands exist for vehicles with code (813) Voice control system (VCS [SBS]):
^ "Help" or "Help telephone"
^ "Enter PIN"
^ "Dial number"
^ "Select name"
^ "Redial"

The telephone function of the so-called man-machine interface (MMI) is selected via the "TEL" menu item or via the telephone/ navigation quick select button (A40/9s5).
The telephone number is then entered using the turn/push control (A40/9s11). It is possible to search via the menu entry "Name" in the address book or via the menu entry "Call lists" in the call lists (missed, answered, dialed). The call is activated using the "SEND" function. The stored telephone numbers are located either on the SIM card or in the telephone's own memory.
Phone calls can be made in "private mode" using a Bluetooth headset.
If an audio source is active at the beginning of a call, the audio source is muted. This is indicated in the display of the portable CTEL, in the COMAND display (A40/8) and in the multifunction display of the instrument cluster.
