GF30.30-P-3210LEA DTR Controller Unit, Component Description

GF30.30-P-3210LEA DTR Controller Unit, Component Description
- with CODE (219) Distronic (DTR)
- as of model year 09

Component Identification:

Location
The DTR controller unit is located in the center behind the radiator grille.

Task
The DTR controller unit has the following tasks
- Actuation, power supply and evaluation of the signals received from the integral long range sensor
- Control of the target evaluation (long range radar)
- Transmitting data for vehicle longitudinal control to the ESP control unit (N47-5)

The DTR control unit (A89n1) integrated in the DTR controller unit actuates the DTR radar sensor (A89b1) (long range sensor) and evaluates the target data. The DTR controller unit sends the long range radar data over the dynamics CAN (CAN H) to the ESP control unit (for vehicle longitudinal control by the Distronic).

Input and output signals
The following input signals are evaluated by the DTR controller unit and transmitted as output signals.

Direct input signals
- Circuit 87
- Tml. 31

Direct output signals
- None

CAN input signals from the dynamics CAN
- Radar request
- Diagnosis request

CAN output signals to the dynamics CAN
- Radar data
- Diagnostic data

Design
The DTR radar sensor and DTR control unit are integrated in the DTR controller unit.

Radar characteristics
- Detection range of radar sensor from 0 to 200 m
- Divergence of radar beam ±9° (sharp focussing)
- 77 GHz radar sensor according to the "Pulse Doppler Principle" for independent measurement of distance and speed
- Fully integrated electronic implementation (high frequency circuits in DTR controller unit)

Component Identification:

The radar plate is a radar transparent cover in the radiator grille which is necessary for correct functioning of the DISTRONIC.

The radar plate has the following tasks:
- Shielding against external effects (such as dirt, ice or insects)
- Ensuring optimal transmission and reception properties of the radar sensor
