GF30.30-P-3001SX Variable Speed Limiter, Function
- with CODE (233) Distronic Plus
- except CODE (494) USA version
- up to model year 2008
Component Identification:
The Variable Speed Limiter (also known as the limiter) is an additional function of DISTRONIC PLUS and is integrated in the radar sensors control unit (SGR) (N62/1).
The Variable Speed Limiter allows the driver to set a maximum speed in the range from 30 km/h up to the top speed of the vehicle. If the vehicle approaches the set maximum speed, the set maximum speed is maintained by engine intervention and if necessary by intervention by the brake system.
The CC [TPM] switch can be moved up or down (S40/4) to increase or decrease the maximum speed in 1 km/h or 10 km/h increments (two settings).
Function requirements
By pressing the CC [TPM] switch, the DISTRONIC PLUS position is deselected and the Variable Speed Limiter selected. The LIM indicator lamp in the CC [TPM] switch lights up.
By pressing the CC [TPM] switch, the Variable Speed Limiter is selected and DISTRONIC PLUS deactivated simultaneously.
Activation
Pulling or moving the CC [TPM] switch up/down activates the Variable Speed Limiter.
When the Variable Speed Limiter is activated, the segments in the speedometer arc are illuminated from the beginning of the scale up to the set maximum speed. The set maximum speed is marked with an orange-colored triangle
Deactivation
The Variable Speed Limiter is deactivated if:
^ The CC [TPM] switch is pushed forwards
^ The driver switches to DISTRONIC PLUS by pressing the CC [TPM] switch (LIM indicator lamp off)
^ Kickdown (accelerator pedal depressed >90%) is activated and the vehicle speed is less than 20 km/h away from the set maximum speed
Variable and Permanent Speed Limiters have the sales designation SPEEDTRONIC.
