SUBJECT

Sliding Roof Denormalized

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles that the tilting sliding roof does not close automatically, automatic function inoperative or rain closing inoperative, this may be caused by a loss of VIN in the overhead control panel (OCP). This can be verified by the value "The VIN is implausible" stored in the control module under "Denormalization causes - anti-pinch protection" in actual values. Perform the remedy below based on model.

Note:
Do not replace any parts.

Note:
Make sure battery charger is connected to the vehicle!

Model 204

^ For vehicles with software version of 06.44.00 and 06.44.02 in the OCP, flash the overhead control panel with flashware 06.44.04 (A204 442 11 23). Flashware is available with add-on 0941 for DAS 05/08 and later.

^ For vehicles with software version of 07.23.00 in the OCP, flash overhead control panel with flashware 07.23.02 (A204 442 10 23). Flashware is available with add-on 0941 for DAS 05/08 or later.

Perform the flash process in DAS under: Control units --> Body --> Overhead control panel --> Initial start-up --> Initial start-up with automatic transfer --> Online Flash. After successfully completing the flash process, perform sunroof normalization and teach-in process. Hold down the F3 button until complete.

Note:
The module must not be replaced. Turn the ignition off and then back on.

Flash overhead control panel with flashware 08.17.00 (A221 442 32 23). Perform flash process in DAS under: Control units --> Body --> Overhead control panel --> Control unit adaptations --> Control unit programming --> Online Flash. After successfully completing the flash process, perform sunroof normalization and teach-in process for Tilting/Sliding Roof. Hold down F3 button until complete.
