Campaign - Sunroof Software Update

SUBJECT: Model 221, Model Year 2009

Update Software for Panoramic Sunroof

This Service Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (DAG), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that the software for the panoramic sliding sunroof may not meet current production specifications. As a result the panoramic sliding sunroof may not close smoothly. Dealers will update the software for the panoramic sliding sunroof at the next workshop visit.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.

^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.

Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.

Approximately 134 vehicles are affected.

Procedure

Note:
Use DAS/Xentry 06/09 with AddOn 1194 or higher and follow the steps exactly as described in DAS/Xentry.

1. Connect battery charger (battery voltage >12.5V).

2. Connect Star Diagnosis to vehicle.

3. Install software version 221 902 31 01 or higher: Control Units/Body/Panoramic sliding sunroof/Initial startup/Initial startup with automatic takeover of settings of previous control unit" - Do not replace control module (this is how SDS checks if control module needs updating).

4 Check function of panoramic sliding sunroof.

5. Erase fault memory.

Note:
^ Please be aware that only the part number(s) referenced in the Campaign Bulletin is/are approved for use to repair the vehicle. Repairs performed using any other part(s) will not have been performed in accordance with the campaign. Accordingly, warranty claims submitted with reference to an improper part number(s) will be denied.
