Reason for change

Complaint:
Tearing or creaking noises from the seat rail / seat fore/aft adjustment of the front seats. This complaint occurs especially on rough roads and when cornering.

Cause:
Contact between upper and lower rail at rear end of tunnel-side seat rail / seat fore/aft adjustment.

Insufficient lubrication of the door-side rail.

Remedy:
Regreasing of seat rail / seat fore/aft adjustment.

1) Move seat up and to the front (see Figure 1).

2) Use a brush to apply grease (A 002 989 07 51) to lower rail on tunnel side in the area shown (see Figure 2) and spread the grease film to the end of the seat rail (see Figure 3).

3) Thoroughly clean upper and lower areas (see Figure 4) of door-side rail and apply grease (A 002 989 07 51) with the aid of a brush.

In warmer regions use grease A 000 989 38 60.
