GF80.20-P-2002RI Operating Central Locking With Transmitter Key, Function
GF80.20-P-2002RI Operating Central Locking With Transmitter Key, Function
General function requirements
^ C. 15C OFF
Central locking (CL), operation with transmitter key (A8/1) general
The CL can be operated with the transmitter key.
The operation of the transmitter key comprises the following partial functions:
^ Function sequence for presetting global and selective unlocking
^ Function sequence for locking or unlocking
^ Function sequence for visual feedback
^ Function sequence for trunk lid release
Function sequence for presetting global and selective unlocking
If the unlock and lock buttons on the transmitter key are pressed simultaneously for t = 5 seconds, a change between the "global" and "selective" settings takes place. The indicator lamp on the transmitter key comes on for confirmation.
- Global unlocking
The entire vehicle is unlocked by pressing the release button on the transmitter key.
- Selective unlocking
Only the driver door, the interior compartments and the fuel filler flap are unlocked when the release button on the transmitter key is pressed once. The next actuation unlocks the entire vehicle.
Function sequence for locking or unlocking
When the lock or unlock button on the transmitter key is actuated, it transmits a radio signal via the right antenna amplifier module (A2/65) to the overhead control panel control unit (N70). This relays the signal to the EIS control unit (N73) via interior CAN. Parallel to the radio signal, an infrared signal is transmitted to the left front IR receiver (A26/1) or right front IR receiver (A26/2) (precise aiming required).
The corresponding signal is read in by the left door control unit (N69/1) or right door control unit (N69/2) and is transmitted to the EIS control unit via interior CAN.
The infrared and radio signals contain the same information redundant). The first signal received always has priority.
In both cases, the EIS control unit checks the access authorization of the transmitter key.
If the access authorization is valid, the EIS control unit transmits the command "Lock" or "Unlock" to the pneumatic controller unit with combined functions (A37) via interior CAN.. The pneumatic controller unit with combined functions actuates the corresponding actuators to lock or unlock.
Moreover, the pneumatic controller unit with combined functions enables or disables the opening request from the trunk lid external operation switch (S88/8).
Function sequence for visual feedback
After successful locking or unlocking, the exterior lights flash as visual feedback..
For further information on visual feedback see separate function description on exterior lights.
The function is controlled by the steering column tube (N80) transmitting the turn signal as flasher to the interior CAN:
- Locking: flashes three times
- Unlocking: flashes once
If the driver door in the locked vehicle is opened mechanically with the emergency key, the anti-theft alarm system (ATA) triggers an alarm.
On vehicles with code (494) USA version and on vehicles for the Netherlands, an acoustic feedback is output in addition via the alarm horn (H3) when locking or unlocking.
Additional function requirements for trunk lid release
^ Trunk lid not locked via the trunk lid locking switch (S134) (with code (887) Valet Parking
Function sequence for trunk lid release
When the button "Trunk lid release" on the transmitter key is actuated, it transmits a radio signal to the overhead control panel control unit with the right antenna amplifier module. This relays the signal to the EIS control unit with interior CAN.
Parallel to the radio signal, an infrared signal is transmitted to the left front IR receiver or right front IR receiver (precise aiming required).
This signal is read in by the left door control unit and right door control unit and transmitted to the EIS control unit via interior CAN. In both cases, the EIS control unit checks the access authorization of the transmitter key. If the access authorization is valid, the EIS control unit transmits the command "Unlock trunk lid" to the pneumatic controller unit with combined functions via interior CAN.. The pneumatic controller unit with combined functions then actuates the remote trunk opening CL valve (Y65/3) to unlock the trunk.
