Location
The AIRSCARF control unit is located in the trunk behind the right trunk lining.

Task
The AIRSCARF control unit has the following tasks:
^ Reading in of sensors and signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Actuation of components

Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connection:
^ Interior CAN

Interior CAN
The following signals are read in over the interior CAN:
- Status of left AIRSCARF switch (S91/2s21) by left door control unit (N69/1)
- Status of right AIRSCARF switch (S92/2s21) by right door control unit (N69/2)
- Status of Vario roof (VD) by roll bar Vario roof control control unit (N52)
- Signal of in-car temperature sensor (N70b1) by overhead control panel control unit (N70)
- Vehicle speed signal by instrument cluster (A1)
- Signal of outside temperature indicator temperature sensor (B14) by driver SAM control unit (N10/10)

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the affected components are then actuated.

Actuation of components
Components are actuated with the following lines:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
The following components are actuated via a direct line:
- Left AIRSCARF fan motor (M4/10)
- Right AIRSCARF fan motor (M4/11)
- Left AIRSCARF heating element (R22/5)
- Right AIRSCARF heating element (R22/6)

Interior CAN
The following components are actuated over the interior CAN:
- Left AIRSCARF switch through the left door control unit
- Right AIRSCARF switch through the right door control unit
