Front fog lamp actuation, general
The front fog light actuation permits better illumination of the road while driving as well as the identification of the rear area of th vehicle in bad weather conditions.
The standing/parking lights actuation is active during front fog light actuation.
The standing/parking lights actuation is described in a separate document.
Front fog lamp actuation comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Front fog lamp actuation function sequence
^ Rear fog lamp actuation function sequence
Front fog lamp actuation function sequence
The driver-side SAM control unit (N10/10) reads in the status of the rotary light switch directly and transmits the switch-on request via the interior CAN to the front passenger-side SAM control unit (N10/11).
The driver-side SAM control unit actuates the left front fog lamp (E5/1). The front passenger-side SAM control unit actuates the right front fog lamp (E5/2).
The actuation of the front fog lamp indicator lamp (S1e1) in the rotary light switch by the driver-side SAM control unit signals active front fog light actuation.
When the automatic lamp substitution function is requested, the front fog lamps are actuated corresponding to the requested automatic lamp substitution function.
On vehicles with code (494) USA version, the front fog lamps and the high beams function must not be actuated simultaneously. The current incoming request has priority.
Additional function requirements, rear fog lamp actuation
^ Low beam ON
^ Rotary light switch in manual driving lights position pulled out up to the 2nd detent stage.
Rear fog lamp actuation function sequence
The driver-side SAM control unit reads in the status of the rotary light switch directly and transmits the switch-on request via the interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit (N10/8). The rear SAM control unit actuates the left rear fog light (E3e5) in the left taillamp (E3) or the right rear fog light (E4e5) in the right taillamp (E4) depending on the country coding.
The actuation of the rear fog light indicator lamp (S1e2) in the rotary light switch by the driver-side SAM control unit signals active rear fog light actuation.
