Location
The driver-side SAM control unit is located in the control unit box in the engine compartment on the driver's side.

The driver-side SAM control unit has the following tasks:

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
The input factors are read in with the following connections:

Direct line

- Refrigerant pressure sensor (B12)
- Outside temperature indicator temperature sensor (B14)
- Rotary light switch (S1)
- Brake fluid indicator switch (S11)
- Parking brake switch (S12)

Interior CAN
The driver-side SAM control unit reads in function-relevant information via the interior CAN.

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.

Control of systems
The driver-side SAM control unit controls the following systems:
- Left front exterior lights
- Electrically adjustable steering column (ESC [ELV])
- Anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW])
- Wiper system (WSA)
