Restraints and Safety Systems: Service Precautions
AS91.00-Z-0003-01R Risk Of Injury When Performing Check And Repair Work In Area Of Roll Bar
- except CODE (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series"
DANGER: Extend roll bar before working in the roll bar area. Keep body parts away from the moving area of the roll bar mechanical system.
Risk of injury
For work in the area of the roll bar, in particular with mechanical lowering and raising, severe injuries may occur as a result of a sudden raising of the roll bar.
During diagnosis and maintenance operations at the roll bar Vario roof control unit (N52) the roll bar may be activated unintentionally (the rollover sensors are integrated into the roll bar Vario roof control unit).
In addition, the roll bar can still be automatically triggered up to 15 seconds after "Ignition OFF".
Safety precautions/instructions
- Monitor hazard area.
- Before working in the area of the roll bar, completely raise the roll bar in advance and switch off the ignition.
- If it is not possible to raise the roll bar due to a technical defect, you must disconnect the connector at the roll bar Vario roof control unit (N52).
- Keep body parts away from the moving area of the roll bar mechanical system.
- When mechanically lowering, the roll bar must be very carefully pressed down with the help of a second mechanic. You must ensure that the lock is engaged in the support elements after mechanically lowering.
- When mechanically raising, the roll bar must be held with the utmost caution with the help of a second mechanic and raised slowly.
