GF46.50-P-5140RI SPS (PML) Solenoid Valve, Component Description
GF46.50-P-5140RI SPS [PML] solenoid valve, component description
- refinement package
- as of model year 09
Component Identification:
Location
The SPS solenoid valve is located at the rotary valve housing and control bushing housing of the steering gear of the rack-and-pinion steering (1).
Task
The SPS solenoid valve adjusts the steering assistance speed-dependent at the request from the ESP, SPS [PML] and BAS control unit (N47-5).
No more steering force assistance takes place at a speed of v > 100 km/h.
Design
The SPS [PML] solenoid valve is a current-controlled proportioning valve.
Function
The electronics for the actuation of the SPS solenoid valve PML is integrated in the ESP, SPS [PML] and BAS control unit. The SPS [PML] solenoid valve is actuated in a pulsed manner. As the vehicle speed increases the current flow decreases and the SPS solenoid valve is continuously opened as per a characteristic defined in the ESP, SPS [PML] and BAS control unit.
This regulates the oil flow and thus the torque to be applied to the steering wheel. If the SPS solenoid valve is actuated with the maximum current (at v = 0 km/h), it is closed. No oil flows and the minimum steering wheel torque is set (e.g. for parking).
