Convertible Top Control Module: Description and Operation
GF77.39-P-3210RC Vario Roof Control Unit, Component Description
- refinement package
- as of model year 09
Component Identification:
Location
The power convertible top control unit (N52) is located in the passenger compartment on the left of the rear wall
Tasks
The convertible top mechanism control unit controls opening and closing of the Vario roof.
This is accomplished via
- the Vario roof actuation switch (S84s1) or
- with the transmitter key (A8/1) via infrared signal (IR signal) (with closing system with infrared remote control code (880)).
^ Reading in of sensors and signals
^ Evaluating input factors
^ Actuation of components
Reading in of sensors and signals
These input factors are read in via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN (CAN B)
Direct line
- Circuit 30
- Tml. 31
- Vario roof "locked" limit switch (right rotary tumbler) (S69/3)
- Trunk partition "closed" limit switch (S69/10)
- Vario roof" open/lowered" limit switch (S69/11)
- Tubular frame "locked" limit switch (S118)
- Tubular frame "open" limit switch (S119)
- Temperature sensor (A7/5b1)
Interior CAN (CAN B)
The convertible top mechanism control unit receives the signal via the interior CAN (CAN B).
The most important input signals are:
- Rotary tumbler/trunk lid microswitch (S88/1) via rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)
- Vario roof closed limit switch (left pin) (S69) via overhead control panel control unit (N70)
- Switch position of Vario roof actuation switch (S84s1) in upper control panel control unit (N72/1)
- Speed signal from instrument cluster (A1)
- Terminal status from EIS [EZS] control unit (N73)
- Outside temperature indicator temperature sensor (B14) via driver-side rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)
- Wheel speed via gateway central control unit (N93)
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors read in are evaluated by the convertible top mechanism control unit. The front power window motors are actuated via the interior CAN. The convertible top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) is actuated directly.
Actuating components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN (CAN B)
Direct line
- Left rear power window motor (M10/5)
- Right rear power window motor (M10/6)
- Vario roof open relay (A7/5k1) in convertible top mechanism hydraulic unit
- Vario roof close relay (A7/5k2) in convertible top mechanism hydraulic unit
- Vario roof solenoid valve (A7/5y1) in convertible top mechanism hydraulic unit
The motor (A7/5m1) in the convertible top mechanism hydraulic unit is actuated via the Vario roof open relay or Vario roof close relay in the convertible top mechanism hydraulic units.
Power supply
- Left rear power window motor (M10/5)
- Right rear power window motor (M10/6)
Interior CAN (CAN B)
The convertible top mechanism control unit (N52) transmits signals via the interior CAN. The most important output signals are:
- Control of Vario roof front lock with overhead control panel control unit (N70).
- Actuation of left front power window motor (M10/3) with left door control unit (N69/1)
- Actuation of right front power window motor (M10/4) with left door control unit (N69/2)
- Output of function and warning displays, indicated in the instrument cluster (A1)
Variants
There are no variants for the hardware for the convertible top mechanism control unit.
The country or left-hand drive vehicle/right hand drive vehicle allocation is software coded.
