Location
The buckle emergency tensioning retractor units are located at each seat frame, below the seat belt buckle.

Task
The buckle emergency tensioning retractor tensions any loosely fitted seat belt and therefore prevents a seat belt film reel effect. The close-fitting seat belt means that vehicle occupants are subjected to the deceleration forces acting on the body at an earlier stage.

Triggering occurs when the squibs are ignited by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7).
