GF46.15-P-2001RC Easy Entry/Exit, Steering Column Adjustment, Function
GF46.15-P-2001RC Easy entry/exit, steering column adjustment, function
- with CODE (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors)
Function requirements of easy entry/exit steering column adjustment, general
^ Function activated via the instrument cluster (A1)
^ Drive position stored
Easy entry/exit, steering column adjustment, general
The easy entry/exit makes it possible for the driver to get into and out of the vehicle easily. In the process the steering column is moved upwards before getting in or out.
The function easy entry/exit steering column adjustment is comprised of the following partial functions:
^ Move to easy entry/exit position function sequence
^ Move to drive position function sequence
^ Repeat limiter function sequence
The easy entry/exit function can be activated or deactivated via the second operating level in the instrument cluster. The corresponding selection is made via the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111). The steering column tube module (N80) reads in the signals from the multifunction steering wheel button group and provides them to the instrument cluster on the interior CAN.
The instrument cluster transmits the status of the easy entry/exit activated or deactivated function via the interior CAN to the driver front seat adjustment with memory control unit (N32/1).
Additional function requirements, approach easy entry/exit position
^ Leaving the vehicle intentionally by removing the transmitter key (A8/1) from the EIS control unit (N73)
^ Opening a vehicle door
Move to easy entry/exit position function sequence
Terminal status circuit 15 is supplied on the interior CAN via the EIS control unit and the status of the driver door, defined via the status of the left door contact switch (S17/3), by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2). The front seat adjustment control unit reads in all the relevant information, evaluates it and actuates the steering column up/down motor accordingly (M20/2).
Move to drive position function sequence
Under the following conditions the front seat adjustment control unit carries out the function of approach driving position:
- The driver door is closed with circuit 15 On
- Change of terminal status from circuit 30 to circuit 15C when driver door is closed
- A change is made from circuit 15C to circuit 15R with the driver door closed
- A change is made from circuit 15R to circuit 15 On with the driver door closed
Terminal status circuit 15 is supplied by the EIS control unit and the status of the driver door by the rear SAM control unit on the interior CAN. The front seat adjustment control unit read in all the relevant information, evaluates it and actuates the steering column up/down motor accordingly.
Repeat limiter function sequence
Repeated insertion and removal of the transmitter key into and out of the EIS control unit leads to a change between the functions approach entry and exit position and approach driving position. In order here to prevent overloading the steering column up/down motor, the number of requests is limited to five adjustment cycles.
The number of adjustment cycles is put back as soon as the EIS control unit provides terminal status circuit 15R or when the rear SAM control unit reports the status driver door open or driver door closed.
The sequence of the functions approach easy entry/exit position and approach driving position is terminated under the following conditions:
- under voltage or over voltage
- Adjustment request via the up/down and in/out steering column adjustment switch (S59/1s1) or a current memory adjustment
- Circuit reversal or status change of driver door
- Defect in a Hall sensor integrated in the steering column up and down motor
