Component Identification:

Location
The upper control panel control unit is located in the center console.

Task
The upper control panel control unit has the following tasks:
^ Reading in of signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Actuation of components

Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in with the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
The signals from the following components are read in via a direct line and made available to other control units on the interior CAN:
- Outside mirror adjustment switch with/without mirror fold-in/out feature (S50/1):
- Outside mirror raise/lower, in/out rocker switch (S50/1s1)
- Outside mirror folding in and out switch (S50/1s3) (with code (500) Folding left/right outside mirrors)
- Left outside mirror adjustment selection switch (S50/1s6)
- Right outside mirror adjustment selection switch (S50/1s7)

- Vario roof/ATA [EDW] switch group (S84):
- Vario roof actuation switch (S84s1)
- IMS [IRS] OFF switch (S84s2) (with code (882) Interior monitoring (only with ATA [EDW]))
- TS [AS] OFF switch (S84s3) (with code (551) Antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW]))

Interior CAN
The upper control panel control unit reads in function-relevant information via the interior CAN.

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.

Actuation of components
Components are actuated with the following lines:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
The function indicators for the following switches are actuated via a direct line:
- Outside mirror adjustment switch with/without mirror fold-in/fold out feature:
- Left outside mirror adjustment selection switch
- Right outside mirror adjustment selection switch

- Vario roof/ATA [EDW] switch group:
- TS [AS] OFF switch
- IMS [IRS] OFF switch

Interior CAN
The signals from the following switches are made available to other control units on the interior CAN:
- ESP OFF switch
- Hazard warning system switch
- 'Unlock CL [ZV]' interior switch
- 'Lock CL [ZV]' interior switch and ATA [EDW] function indicator lamp
- PTS OFF switch
- Left AIRSCARF switch and right AIRSCARF switch (with code (403) Airscarf system)
- Left seat heater switch and right seat heater switch (with code (873) Left and right front heated seats)

Design
The following components are located on the upper control panel control unit:
- Automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp
- ESP OFF switch
- Hazard warning system switch
- 'Unlock CL [ZV]' interior switch
- 'Lock CL [ZV]' interior switch and ATA [EDW] function indicator lamp
- PTS OFF switch (with code (220) PARKTRONIC)
- Left AIRSCARF switch and right AIRSCARF switch
- Left seat heater switch and right seat heater switch

The upper control panel control unit regulates the electronics for the following external control and display components:
- Outside mirror adjustment switch with/without mirror fold-in/fold out feature:
- Outside mirror raise/lower, in/out rocker switch
- Left outside mirror adjustment selection switch
- Right outside mirror adjustment selection switch
- Outside mirror fold-in/fold-out switch

- Vario roof/ATA [EDW] switch group:
- Vario roof actuation switch
- TS [AS] OFF switch
