GF80.20-P-2002RC Operating Central Locking With Transmitter Key, Function
GF80.20-P-2002RC Operating Central Locking With Transmitter Key, Function
General function requirements
^ C. 15C OFF
Central locking (CL), operation with transmitter key (A8/1) general
The CL can be operated with the transmitter key.
The operation of the transmitter key comprises the following partial functions:
^ Function sequence for presetting global and selective unlocking
^ Function sequence for locking or unlocking
^ Function sequence for visual feedback
^ Function sequence for trunk lid release
Function sequence for presetting global and selective unlocking
If the unlock and lock buttons on the transmitter key are pressed simultaneously for 5 seconds, a change between the "global" and "selective" settings takes place. The indicator lamp on the transmitter key comes on for confirmation.
- Global unlocking
The entire vehicle is unlocked by pressing the "Unlock" button on the transmitter key.
- Selective unlocking
Only the driver door, the interior compartments and the fuel filler flap are unlocked when the "Unlock" button on the transmitter key is pressed once. The next actuation unlocks the entire vehicle.
Function sequence for locking or unlocking
When the "Lock or unlock button" on the transmitter key is actuated, it transmits a radio signal via the left antenna amplifier module (A2/64) to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2). This relays the signal to the EIS control unit (N73) via interior CAN.
Parallel to the radio signal, an infrared signal is transmitted to the left IR receiver unit (A26/1) (with code (880) Closing system with infrared remote control) or right IR receiver unit (A26/2) (with code (880) Closing system with infrared remote control) (precise aiming required).
The corresponding signal is read in by the left door control unit (N69/1) or right door control unit (N69/2) and is transmitted to the EIS control unit via interior CAN.
The infrared and radio signals include the same information (redundant); the first signal received is accepted.
In both cases, the EIS control unit checks the access authorization of the transmitter key.
If the access authorization is valid, the EIS control unit transmits the command "Lock or unlock" via the interior CAN to the:
- Rear SAM control unit
- Left door control unit
- Right door control unit
They unlock or lock the:
- Right door CL motor (M14/5)
- Left door CL motor (M14/6)
- Fuel filler flap CL motor (M14/10)
- Glove box CL motor (M14/18)
- Center console compartment CL motor (M14/19)
Moreover, the rear SAM control unit enables or disables the opening request from the trunk lid external switch (S88/8).
Function sequence for visual feedback
After successfully locking or unlocking, the following components provide visual feedback:
- Left turn signal light (E1e5)
- Right turn signal light (E2e5)
- Left turn signal lights (E3e1)
- Right turn signal light (E4e1)
- Left outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/5)
- Right outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/6)
The function is controlled by the rear SAM control unit, transmitting the turn signal as flasher to the interior CAN:
- Locking: flashes three times
- Unlocking: flashes once
Vehicles with code (551) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA): If the driver door in the locked vehicle is opened mechanically with the emergency key, the anti-theft alarm system (ATA) triggers an alarm.
On vehicles with code (494) USA version and on vehicles for the Netherlands, an acoustic feedback is output in addition via the alarm (H3/1) when locking or unlocking.
Additional function requirements for trunk lid release
^ Trunk lid not locked via trunk lid contact switch (S88/6) (with code (887) Valet Parking)
Function sequence for trunk lid release
When the button "Trunk lid release" on the transmitter key is actuated, it transmits a radio signal to the rear SAM control unit with the left antenna amplifier module. This relays the signal to the EIS control unit with interior CAN.
Parallel to the radio signal, an infrared signal is transmitted to the left IR receiver unit or right IR receiver unit (precise aiming required).
This signal is read in by the left door control unit and right door control unit and transmitted to the EIS control unit via interior CAN. In both cases, the EIS control unit checks the access authorization of the transmitter key. If the access authorization is valid, the EIS control unit transmits the command "Unlock" to the rear SAM control unit via the interior CAN.
This signal enables the trunk lid external operation switch. The trunk lid can now be opened manually. The trunk lid CL motor (S88/1m1) is actuated by the rear SAM control unit to unlock the rotary tumbler.
