Navigation System: Service and Repair



AN82.61-P-0001-01CW Retrofit Wiring Harness


Component Identification:






1 Detach 14-pin pink connector from the wiring harness branch- off line (1a) (14-pin coupling housing no longer required).
2 Cut wiring harness branch-off line (1b) with 4-pin lilac connector from wiring harness for Auto Pilot System (1) as shown (no longer required).
3 Cut wiring harness branch-off line (1b) with 3-pin black connector from wiring harness for Auto Pilot System (1) as shown (no longer required).


Component Identification:






4 Replace standard wiring harness (5) (was connected to Audio/COMAND display) with new wiring harness (5).

Standard wiring harness (5) no longer required.
The black coupling housing (arrow) must be in the Audio/ COMAND display cutout.





Component Identification:






The Auto Pilot System wiring harness (1) is routed to the left starting at the radio recess.

5 Remove 12-pin black connector from 40-pin standard connector of radio and strap down (no longer required).
6 Connect 12-pin black connector from Auto Pilot System wiring harness to the 40-pin standard connector for the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).







7 Route Auto Pilot System wiring harness (1) forward to the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) cutout.







8 Route Auto Pilot System wiring harness (1) forward and connect to the ground point (left front footwell) (W15/5).

Route 4-pin white connectors from the Auto Pilot System wiring harness (1) into the area of the center console. Attach the Auto Pilot System wiring harness (1) to the vehicle's wiring harnesses.







9 Route Auto Pilot System wiring harness (1) forward to left vehicle floor interior CAN voltage distributor electrical connector (X30/32) and connect.







10 Route contact spring with the two red/blue lines of the Auto Pilot System wiring harness to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module.
11 Disconnect 14-pin pink connector (3) from front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module.
12 Detach red/blue line from 14-pin pink connector (3) and strap down (no longer required).

Red/blue line located in contact cavity 6.







13 Install contact spring with the two red/blue lines (rt/bl) from the Auto Pilot System wiring harness into the 14-pin pink connector (3) contact cavity 6.
14 Connect 14-pin pink connector (3) to front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module.
15 Remove blue carrier element from antenna line (no longer required).







16 Connect antenna line (arrow) to COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
17 Fasten antenna line in place using felt tape.
