Location
One LED, signaling lights actuation module each is mounted on the underside of the left front lamp unit and on the underside of the right front lamp unit.

Task
The LED, signaling lights actuation modules have the following tasks:
- Provide and monitor operating voltage and operating current of the actuated light-emitting diodes (LED)
- Actuation of the LEDs in the corresponding front lamp unit to output the light functions:
- Standing lights
- Parking lights
- Turn signal lights
- Thermal management (temperature monitoring)
The LED, signaling lights actuation modules actuate the LEDs located in the front lamp unit to implement the individual light functions.
The LEDs are each connected in series.
The LED, signaling lights actuation modules are supplied with voltage by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) (circuit 30L).
The individual light functions are output after applying voltage at the respective input channel of the LED, signaling lights actuation module. This occurs through the front SAM control unit.
The front lamp units are equipped with temperature sensors at the LED chains. The LED, signaling lights actuation modules evaluate the data of the temperature sensors.
If there is danger of the LEDs or the plastic housing of the front lamp units overheating, the LED, driving lights actuation modules reduce the actuating currents and thus lower the heat development.
Identified malfunctions of individual components are stored in a non-volatile memory. The LED, signaling lights actuation modules can be diagnosed via the headlamp control unit (N71/1).
