GF46.15-P-2005CW Adjust/Save Steering Column, Function
GF46.15-P-2005CW Adjust/Save Steering Column, Function
- MODEL 204.0 /2
- with CODE (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors) up to Model Year 8
Function requirements
^ Circuit 15R ON or
^ Circuit 15 ON or
^ Driver door open
^ Steering column adjustment ready for operation
^ Normalized steering column adjustment (for saving position of steering column and calling up stored position)
General steering column adjust/save function sequence
The function sequence consists of several subfunctions. These are:
^ Adjust steering column
^ Save position of steering column
^ Call up stored position of steering column
Adjust steering column function sequence
Actuation of the steering column adjustment switch (S59) is read in by the steering column module control unit (N80).
The signal is forwarded over the chassis CAN to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1), which routes the signal to the interior CAN.
The driver seat control unit (N32/1) picks up the signal and depending on the request it actuates the steering column in/out adjustment motor (M20/1) or the steering column up/down adjustment motor (M20/2). Actuation continues until the signal is removed.
Save position of steering column function sequence
The current position of the steering column can be saved together with the position of the driver seat and the outside mirror
Saving is performed using the memory switch (S22s7, S22s8 or S22s9) and the left front memory function switch (S22s6) in the left front seat setting switch group (S22). The corresponding positions are saved in the driver seat control unit. Up to 3 different data records can be stored.
There are two ways of saving positions:
^ Press and hold memory function switch, then press the corresponding memory switch.
^ Press memory function switch for t > 100 ms and then release, then press the corresponding memory switch within t ≥ 0.2 s to t ≤3 s.
Actuation of the seat setting switch group is read in over the left door LIN by the left front driver door control unit (N69/1) and forwarded over the interior CAN to the driver seat control unit.
This uses the Hall sensor signals from the steering column adjustment motor to store the current position of the steering column adjustment motors
When saving the position the instrument cluster (A1) emits an acknowledgment tone.
Call up saved steering column position function sequence
To move to a stored position the corresponding memory switch has to be pressed and held until the stored end position is reached. If the switch is released, the adjustment procedure is terminated immediately.
The actuation is read in over the left door LIN by the left driver door control unit and forwarded over the interior CAN to the driver seat control unit. This then actuates the steering column adjustment motors.
