Function
With low oil levels, the lubricating oil which flows constantly out of the gear set, flows back to oil gallery (A) though the opening (46). If the oil level increases, the oil forces the float (45) against the transmission housing and then separates the oil gallery (A) from the gear set chamber (B). The lubricating oil escaping further from the gear sets is thrown against the housing wall, carried along by the rotating parts and flows back through the upper opening (arrow) into the oil gallery.
