Storing telephone book entries
The voice control system (VCS [SBS]) allows the user to store new telephone book entries in the VCS telephone book.
Frequently used telephone numbers can be stored in the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) control unit (N41/3) together with names that can be selected freely. 30-50 entries can be stored depending on the length of the names selected. To extend the telephone book, the user needs, after activating the VCS with the VCS [SBS] switch (S93/2) and activating the telephone application through the VCS with the command "Telephone", the following commands:
^ Store name
^ Store number
^ Store telephone number

After the command has been entered (e.g. "Save telephone number"), the user is asked by the VCS to enter a telephone number.

The entries stored in the telephone book can only be called up reliably by the users who store them.

This can be accomplished by saying either:
^ Blocks of numbers, suitable for entry of longer numbers (approx. 3-5 numbers per number block, with a pause of approx. 0.5 s in-between the number blocks)

or by entering:
^ Number chains (up to 30 numbers, without pause).

If an error occurs when entering the desired telephone number, e.g. improper recognition of a number by the VCS or incorrect entry by the user, it is possible for the user to delete or correct the number.
If no errors occurred while entering the number, the VCS asks the user to "Please say name" after the command "Store". When this name has been entered by the user, the VCS asks the user to repeat the name to confirm..
If a different name is given when the name is entered the second time, the VCS voice output asks the user to "Please say again".
If the user then enters the first name, the VCS requests the user to repeat the name again. The VCS stores the telephone book entry (name and associated number) in the telephone book only when the associated name and its repetition are identical.

The VCS voice output indicates "Name and number stored".

Calling up telephone book entries
The user can have the VCS read the telephone book entries with the command "Listen to telephone book". In doing so, the user can select a certain name and thus start the dialing process.

Deleting individual entries in telephone book
The user has the possibility to delete an individual entry from the telephone book with the command "Delete name". The VCS then requests the user to say the name to be deleted.

After the user has entered the name, he/she is asked by the VCS to confirm if the name selected is to be deleted.
If the user answers "Yes", the telephone book entry is deleted. The VCS announces this action with the voice output : "The name is being deleted".
If the user answers "No", the name remains stored. Any other word spoken by the user terminates the dialog with the VCS

Delete all entries in the telephone book
The user has the possibility to delete all entries from the telephone book using the editing command "Delete telephone book".
In the dialog, the VCS asks "Do you want to delete the telephone book?" If the user answers "Yes", the VCS asks "Are you sure?" Another "Yes" causes the VCS to delete all entries in the telephone book.

If (s)he answers with "No", the VCS starts reading the telephone book entries aloud. While the telephone book is being read aloud, the user can select a name to be deleted by activating the VCS switch. The selected name is then repeated by the VCS and the user is prompted with the question "Do you want to delete the name" to confirm the deletion process. The user is then asked by the VCS, if (s)he really wants to delete the selected name. If the user answers "No", the VCS continues to read the telephone book entries aloud. Any other word terminates dialog with the VCS.

The user can interrupt the dialog with the VCS at any time by operating the VCS switch.

Deleting or correcting number chains/blocks during number entry

If an error occurs when entering a telephone number, e.g. improper recognition of a number by the VCS or incorrect entry by the user, it is possible for the user to correct the number according to the type of entry (number chain or number blocks).
If the number has been entered as a number chain (spoken coherently, without pause), the number can only be changed using the editing commands:
^ Delete
^ Delete number
^ Delete telephone number

This means that all numbers entered previously are deleted and that the VCS outputs a message to the user via voice output indicating "Number deleted, please say number or command" and to enter an additional number or command.

If the number has been stored as a series of number blocks (3-5 numbers per block, pause of 0.5 s between individual blocks), the number can be changed using the editing commands:
^ Correcting
^ Correction
^ Correct telephone number
^ Correct telephone/number

This means that the block of numbers entered last is deleted and the block of numbers entered previously is repeated by the VCS. Then the VCS asks the user to "Continue" with voice output requesting either additional numbers or a command.

With both types of number entry, the VCS outputs the message "Number too long" via voice output when more than 30 numbers are entered without a pause and the user is requested to enter the number as a series of number blocks.
Entering number blocks provides the possibility to enter telephone numbers with more than 30 numbers. It also becomes easier to correct a telephone number in the event of improper recognition of a number by the VCS or incorrect entry by the user.

If the user wants to check the numbers already entered by listening to them again, this is possible with the command "Repeat".
The VCS then repeats all of the numbers entered up to that point and asks the user to "Continue" to enter additional numbers or a command via voice output.
