GF82.60-P-0005TX Audio 20, Function
- with CODE (523) MB Audio 20 radio

Component Identification:

The radio (A2) is the central operating and display unit for all entertainment and communications systems integrated within the MOST bus (Media Oriented Systems Transport) and for this reason it is known as a "One-Box". It has a display which is divided into 6 display fields for outputting information, such as assignment of function keys, function status and control menus.

The following functions can be operated:
^ Radio (FM, MW, LW, SW)
^ CD player
^ CD changer
^ Telephone, SMS, WAP

The radio can be operated by 2 main control fields, which are located on the left and right next to the display, a button panel below the display, a rotary knob and a cross-shaped rocker button. Several functions can be activated with the aid of the multifunction steering wheel buttons.

It should be noted that all button operations on the multifunction steering wheel are processed first by the instrument cluster (A1). This is connected by way of CAN-B (Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior)) to the radio. The instrument cluster links the incoming button actuations with the current menu setting on the multifunction display (A1p13) and, where applicable, sends a corresponding CAN message to the radio.

MOST bus
The digital components in the audio system are linked to each other over the MOST bus system. Data (control commands and user information) are sent via the MOST bus between the various components and an optical wake-up signal. Alongside this optical wake-up signal the radio can also be rendered operational b means of an electrical "wake-up" signal.

Because some of the individual components work with different data formats or require different data transfer rates and security levels, different bus systems have been installed:
^ MOST bus
^ CAN-B

The conditions must be met for startup:
^ Circuit 15R ON
^ Voltage supply (on-board power supply 12 V) applied
^ System check (authentication) positive

System activation
The radio's operating unit switches on when the rotary knob is pressed. Volume is regulated at the rotary switch for the audio source adjusted in each case. The function keys switch over to the audio source desired by the user.

The audio system is operated using:
^ Fixed programmed function keys
^ Alphanumeric key block
^ CD eject button
^ Programmable function keys
^ rotary knob with integrated hands-free button
^ cross-shaped rocker switch with pushbutton
^ ON button
^ Mute button
^ Display
^ Control buttons on multifunction steering wheel

Interfaces
Data are exchanged with the instrument cluster via the CAN-B. The instrument cluster receives the audio and telephone data from the radio for the multifunction display in the instrument cluster.
