Component Identification:

Location
The electric steering lock control unit is located on the steering column below the steering panel.

Task
The electric steering lock control unit has the following tasks:
- Calculation of Hash value
- If the hash value is incorrect and the unlocking position is not reached or not recognized, an error message is transmitted to the EIS control unit (N73).
- Position monitoring of locking bolt via two Hall sensors
- Switching on integrated motor via alternating relay for locking and unlocking locking bolt
- Arresting steering column with locking bolt

The electric steering lock control unit processes information from the EIS control unit and is connected with it via a bi-directional, serial data line
