Location
The accelerator pedal sensor is located at the top in the accelerator pedal module.
Task
The accelerator pedal sensor converts mechanical operation of the accelerator pedal into an electrical voltage according to the accelerator pedal position.
Design
Shown is the internal circuit
1 Pin 1: Voltage supply (5 V)
2 Pin 2: Signal voltage 1 (approx. 0.40 to 4.50 V)
3 Pin 3: Ground Hall element 1
4 Pin 4: Ground Hall element 2
5 Pin 5: Not used
6 Pin 6: Signal voltage 2 (approx. 0.20 to 2.25 V)
A Hall element 1
B Hall element 2
LHD Idle position
FL Full-load position
Function
The accelerator pedal sensor consists of a shaft with a ring magnet. The ring magnet rotates in a printed circuit board with stator in the two fixed Hall elements. This produces a change in the voltage.
Information on the accelerator pedal position is transmitted in the form of two signal voltages to the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).
Emergency running
If the signal voltage of one Hall element fails, the signal voltage of the other Hall element is used and the engine goes into limp-home mode.
