Component Identification:

Location
The pressure sensor is located at the front right beside the electric air pump (M33) and is connected to the variable intake manifold by a hose.

Task
The pressure sensor detects the absolute pressure (intake manifold air pressure) in the variable intake manifold. The intake manifold air pressure serves the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) when starting the engine for recognizing the air mass and for a running engine for monitoring the measured air mass.

Component Identification:

Function
The intake manifold air pressure deforms the membrane which acts on a potentiometer. This alters the resistance value of the potentiometer and influences the signal voltage which serves the ME control unit as information about the intake manifold air pressure. The measurement range of the pressure sensor is 0.2 to 2.5 bar.
