SUBJECT: Model 216 Model Year 2011
Update Fuel System Control Module Software
This Service Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (DAG), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that the Fuel System Control Module software may not meet current specifications on affected vehicles. Dealers will update the Fuel System Control Module software at the next workshop visit.
Prior to performing this Service Campaign:
^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.
Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.
Approximately 78 vehicles are affected.
Procedure
Note:
^ Use DAS/Xentry 05-06/2011 or higher.
^ Follow the steps exactly as described in DAS/Xentry.
^ Connect battery charger (battery voltage >12.5V).
^ Turn off all of vehicle's electrical consumers prior to updating control module software.
^ If you are performing this campaign on a vehicle that also requires the following campaigns:
P-SC-2011070002 and P-SC-2011070003, perform the campaigns in the following order: 1st: SCN Code Control Module (P-SC-2011070002), 2nd: Update Transmission Control Module Software (P-SC-2011070003), last: This campaign (P-SC-2011070001).
1. Connect Star Diagnosis to vehicle.
2. Update fuel system control unit (FSCU) software:
Control units / Drive / FSCU / Fuel pump / Control unit adaptations / Control unit programming.
3. Follow on-screen instructions.
Note:
^ Perform service work on other vehicles while the software for the control module is being updated.
^ The following allowable labor operation(s) should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair:
^ If you are performing this campaign on a vehicle that also requires the following campaigns: P-SC-2011070002 and P-SC-2011070003; you can only claim operation numbers 02-5058 and 02-4762 once.
