GF91.25-P-2016LEA Massage Function For Dynamic Seat, Function
- with CODE (432) Left and right dynamic multicontour seat as of Model Year 2010 /YoM 09 model refinement package

Function requirements, general
^ Circuit 15R or circuit 15 ON
^ Pressure supply active
^ No on-board electrical system limp-home mode
^ Status of pneumatic pump for dynamic seat control (M40/1) on interior CAN (CAN B) OK

Function description for dynamic seat massage function, general
To prevent any tension in the back during long journeys, the dynamic seat is equipped with a massage function.

Pressing the multicontour seat quick select button (A40/9s4) in the front central operating unit (A40/9) and selection of Submenus "Massage" on the SPLITVIEW display (A40/10) (with code (867) SPLITVIEW) or COMAND display (A40/8) (without code (867) SPLITVIEW), the air cushions in the 7-row massage insert in the lumbar support are inflated and deflated alternatively after selecting the massage program.

The massage function can be individually set using the turn/push control (A40/9s11):
^ Slow and non-intense massage
^ Slow and intense massage
^ fast and non-intense massage
^ fast and intense massage

The massage function is described at the driver seat for left-hand drive vehicles by way of an example, but this also applies for the front passenger seat.

Open circuit
When the following adjustment is made, any massage cycle in progress is terminated and the driver dynamic seat massage function main valve (Y24/20) is closed. The massage function continues with the next cycle after termination of the interruption conditions:
- Manual lumbar support adjustment
- Manual adjustment of lateral support
- Manual adjustment of shoulder area
- Adjustment request based on memory

Abort conditions
- Overvoltage, undervoltage.
- Reference position in left front seat massage function actuator motor (M94) not OK
- Target position in left front seat massage function actuator motor not reached
- Pump overload in connection with activated dynamic function
- Adjustment request after PRE-SAFE

Blocking
When the following fault is active, the function is blocked for the running ignition sequence:
- Reference position in left front seat massage function actuator motor not OK

The dynamic seat massage function is structured as follows:
^ Start and end
^ Sequence of programs
^ Main valve control
^ Control of seat massage function actuator motor
^ Compressed-air supply

Start and end
By actuating the multicontour seat quick select button in the front central operating unit the submenu "Multicontour seat is activated on the SPLITVIEW display (with code (867) SPLITVIEW) or COMAND display (without code (867) SPLITVIEW).

Following selection, choose the "Massage" submenu for the driver or front passenger seat. Pressing the rotary pushbutton downwards or upwards or turning it enables the massage function to be individually adjusted in 4 different programs or to be switched off.
- Stage "0" off
- Slow and non-intense massage
- Slow and intense massage
- Fast and non-intense massage
- Fast and intense massage

The massage function can also be activated via the freely programmable button (A40/9s10) in the front central operating unit. However, previously the massage function must be assigned to the freely programmable button. For this purpose select menu "Vehicle", then submenu "System settings" and the menu "Select favorites" via the menu guidance on the SPLITVIEW display (with code (867) SPLITVIEW) or COMAND display (without code (867) SPLITVIEW) with the rotary pushbutton.

Sequence of programs

Massage "Slow and non-intense"
After activating the program in the submenu, first the air is fed over the driver dynamic seat massage function main valve to the left front seat massage function actuator motor, actuated by the left front dynamic seat control unit (N32/19). Starting with the lower air cushion in the massage insert, the contour of the 1st layer of the massage insert is sequentially altered by inflating, maintaining and relieving the pressure. After a defined waiting time, the cycle for layer 2 is started according to the same pattern.

If the waiting time has elapsed during inflation of layer 7 of the massage insert, the cycle is continued with layer 6 if the so-called turn period has expired. The layers are then actuated in reverse order down to layer 1. The cycle starts again from the beginning. The left front seat massage function actuator motor has a total of 23 valve positions, which are actuated during a massage cycle.

The pressure difference between the deflated and the inflated lumbar support cushion is approx. 100 mbar. A wave motion is created by alternately inflating and deflating the lumbar support cushion.

Massage "Slow and non-intense" (rolling)
The program sequence is the same as for "Massage 1 slow and weak", except that the air cushions are inflated at higher pressure and the program sequence lasts longer.

Massage "fast and non-intense" (wavy)
As long as the massage function is active, the contour of the massage inserts is sequentially altered, first by inflating layer 1 for a defined inflation period, maintaining the pressure for a defined holding time and then deflating layer 1 for a defined deflation period. After a defined waiting time, the cycle for layer 2 is started according to the same pattern.

If the waiting time has elapsed during inflation of layer 7 of the massage insert, the cycle is continued with layer 1.

Massage "fast and intense"
The program sequence is the same as for "Massage 3, fast and non-intense", except that the air cushions are inflated to a higher pressure and the program sequence lasts longer. The difference in pressure between a deflated and an inflated massage cushion is approx. 150 mbar. A wave motion is generated through alternate inflation and deflation of the massage cushions.

After approx. 12 to 24 minutes, depending on the selected program, the massage function is automatically ended and the massage insert air cushions are deflated.

Main valve control
The driver dynamic seat main valve is actuated by the left front dynamic seat control unit and is located on a mount fastened to the left front dynamic seat control unit.

Control of massage function actuator motor
The left front seat massage function actuator motor is actuated by the left front dynamic seat control unit. The left front seat massage function actuator motor has a total of 23 valve positions which are actuated during a massage cycle.

The 23 valve positions are responsible for different pneumatic inflating and deflating procedures of the air cushions in the massage function. The adjustments are monitored with two reference positions (limit switch). Parallel to the control cycle, the individual steps are counted and monitored by the left front dynamic multicontour seat control unit.

Compressed-air supply
The air supply, required for inflating the air cushions, is provided by the pneumatic pump for dynamic seat control.
