Backup Lamp: Description and Operation
GF82.10-P-3011LE Backup Lamp Actuation, Function
Function requirements for backup light actuation in general
^ Circuit 15 On
The circuit status of circuit 15 is provided by the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) on the interior CAN (CAN-B).
Backup lamp actuation function sequence
The backup light actuation enables the traffic lane to the rear of the vehicle to be illuminated when backing up.
The status of the current selector lever position is sent by the intelligent servo module for DIRECT SELECT (A80) to the drive train CAN (CAN C) and forwarded by the CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) to the chassis CAN (CAN E).
The central gateway control unit (N93) sends this to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and for vehicles with code (550) Trailer hitch sent by the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1) to the interior CAN.
The rear SAM control unit actuates the following components.
- Left backup lamp (E3e3)
- Right backup lamp (E4e3)
The trailer recognition control unit actuates the corresponding components for the lighting system on the trailer through the trailer hitch socket, 13-pin (X58).
